You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.

Share Your Expertise

Do you love your creative outlet? Do you think that others would benefit from having it in their life too? Do you have a heart for sharing with others?

If yes please consider sharing your expertise!

The project is looking to create video tutorials and to run virtual workshops highlighting different crafts and creativity, that hopefully will help others discover a new creative outlet.

Video tutorials would be shared on the website, and our Social Media Streams.

Virtual Workshops would be run as either a one off, or a mini series. There would be a limited number of spaces at each workshop, with tickets being free, but a donation to the project being greatly appreciated.

Will I be paid for recording a video or running a workshop?

No, at the moment the project is looking for volunteers so is not able to reimburse anybody for their time. However you might be able to be reimbursed for the cost of materials used in your demonstration on a case by case basis. In the future, the project hopes to be able to run advanced workshops, which would be run by someone who is paid for their expertise.

There’s so many different parts to my craft/creative outlet! What sort of thing do you want people to share?

For the workshops a project that can be completed within the time of the workshop (either a standalone workshop or a the series of workshops) is best. This means participants can start and finish their project together. So for example, you could run a workshop teaching how to knit a scarf.

For the video tutorials, either simple steps to complete a mini project or a particular element to your craft would be best. For example, you could demonstrate how to make a felt flower, or you could show a crochet slip stich.

How much time commitment is involved?

The time involved will vary, dependent on your availability and what you would like to do.

Workshops will involve a 20 minute video call before running the workshop, and then the length of the workshop. Standalone workshops should last between 45 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. A mini series of workshops should run for no more than 4 sessions, each session lasting between 1 and 2 hours.

Video tutorials will involve a 15 minute video call, before you record the footage. How long it takes to record the video will depend on each individual, and how experienced or confident they are recording, but an estimation would be between 30 minutes to 1 hour.

I want to get involved, but don’t feel comfortable in front of a camera

Being in front of a camera can be a bit intimidating, however hopefully hopefully the relaxed feel of workshops would put you at ease. If you don’t like the idea of lots of faces looking back at you, why not consider volunteering to film an instructional tutorial, which wouldn’t be live, and you wouldn’t be able to see people watching you. Or perhaps a smaller group size would make you feel more comfortable? Workshops can be run for as little as 5 people, dependent on the person running it. If this still feels too much, why not consider writing an instructional blog post for us. Posts on the blog can be used to share your creative outlet too!

I don’t have a camera/web cam. Can I still be involved?

At the moment, the project is unabe to visit people to film tutorials, or to lend out cameras. So for now, it would be best for you to write an instructional blog post.

I’m happy to share my expertise, but wouldn’t know where to start to show others

Start by thinking how you would teach a friend or relative how to do the most simple part of your craft. Write down step by step what they would to do to complete a mini project. Why not practise a friend or someone you live with!

I’d love to run a workshop, but can only do so at a specific time

That’s okay! A variety of days and times for workshops will be offered, in order to give more people an opportunity to attend.

I’m interested, but due to commitments I wouldn’t be able to do something until next year, is this okay?

Absolutely! Please still get in contact by filling in the form below.
